Elderton Ode to Lorraine
Dark red fruits and cassis with brooding spice and a subtle chocolate note. Serious tannin profile owing to the vintage, with a boldness of fruit that lengthens the palate.
Barossa blend of mostly cabernet sauvignon (47%) and shiraz (46%) but with a dab of merlot (7%). All French oak, 15% new. All estate grown. Vine age ranging from 15 to 75 years.
Ripe fruit flavour and lots of it, though everything remains neat and everything runs smoothly. Blackcurrant, saltbush and plum with clove, violet and chocolate notes littered judiciously throughout. What this wine offer is warm, ripe, straightforward delivery of bold fruit flavour. It’s good now but it has lots of years up its sleeve. 92 Points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, Feb 2022
